Former bank official pleads not guilty to embezzlement

A former bank official has pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of embezzlement.
Lynn A. Wilsie, 37, Oregon, entered the not guilty plea and was released on a recognizance bond Tuesday morning after appearing before Magistrate Judge P. Michael Mahoney in federal court in Rockford.
She is accused of taking a total of $32,904.98 from the former Rock River Bank, now Community Bank of Oregon, during a three-year period.
Wilsie’s attorney, Nick Zimmerman, of Sreenan & Cain, P.C., Rockford, told Mahoney his client was entering a not guilty plea to the charges. He also asked for additional time to examine case evidence before the next court hearing.
Zimmerman’s request came after Assistant U.S. Attorney John G. McKenzie said he anticipated between 4,000 and 5,000 pages of bank records would be used in the prosecution’s case.
Mahoney set the next court hearing for June 2, at 10:30 a.m.
