Deposed Thai premier says in contact with protestors

The former premier, who holds a passport of this Adriatic republic, arrived in Montenegro this weekend for talks over possible investments in the country.

"We are looking for opportunities for investments, but no conclusions have been made yet, Thaksin said after the meetings with representatives of the First Financial bank, a part of the Restis Group of Greece, owned by shipping magnate Victor Restis.

The Restis group, which has taken over the lease for the Sveti Stefan luxurious island in Montenegro in 2009, has earlier denied that Thaksin was negotiating possible investments in the resort.

Thaksin also denied any agreement has been reached.

This is the second time Thaksin visited Montenegro this year. On March 13, he arrived by a private plane from Dubai to the Montenegrin coastal town of Tivat.

Montenegro's officials have so far failed to explain how Thaksin, a former telecoms tycoon, obtained the citizenship of this former Yugoslav republic.
