Friends find him floating, unconscious
Three of the jet skis collided about 200m from shore and all three riders were flung into the water.
While his two friends escaped unscathed, Mr Loh Ying Jie, 20, was not so fortunate.
He is now fighting for his life at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) where he's in critical condition at the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.
At the hospital yesterday, two of Mr Loh's friends, who declined to be named, recounted what happened in the accident at Phuket, Thailand, last Friday.
They said they were not involved. The five friends, who studied at National Junior College and did national service together, arrived at the island on April 1 for a holiday and checked into the Deevana Resort at Patong Beach.
At 2pm the next day, they rented jet skis at the beach near Graceland Resort, which is located in front of Deevana Resort.
They had never ridden jet skis before and the choppy waters and strong wind made them tough to control, the friends said.
