Hilton CEO: 40% of Hilton's near-term hotel openings outside the USA

Today is my last blog for the week, and I also just completed my immersion program at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. where I've had a phenomenal few days working alongside our team members. I leave the hotel today more inspired than ever because of the passion and dedication of our world-class team members.

Over the past three days, in addition to the duties that I mentioned on my last two blogs, I had the opportunity to work in many areas of the hotel. For example, I set up a banquet room, plated chicken for a lunch, cleaned rooms with our housekeepers, folded laundry, surveyed the property with the safety and security team and performed preventive maintenance in some of the guest rooms.

I also got a chance to attend the property's sales and marketing meeting. I am happy to say that the Capital Hilton is seeing pick-up in room demand. In fact this is a trend that we are seeing around the world, which I believe is a good sign that we have seen the worst of this decline and are at the beginning of a gradual multi-year recovery. In most cases, however, room rates are still under pressure, but the good news for all of you is that there are deals out there right now – at great places around the world.
